26 Months
This past month Bryce has started saying "No Mommy talking" and sometimes "No Daddy talking". At first I thought it was funny, but now it is getting old. This is his response anytime he does not want to answer a question, when he is being told not to do something, or when he just wants to be a stinker. We are starting to give him timeouts for saying this and letting him know that it is very rude.
He is still plugging along on potty training. He only goes pee in his "bigs" once every few days, and that normally happens when we are out and I forget to ask him if he needs to go. I think what I need to do is put him in his cloth training pants and just deal with a mess a couple of times so that he really starts to understand that when we are out he has to tell me when he needs to use the potty. Right now I put him in pull-ups when we are away from home and if he has an accident in them he isn't uncomfortable. However, in cloth training pants he feels the wetness and doesn't like it.
Another new thing the past couple of months in wanting his door open when he goes to sleep. This started after our San Diego trip and has continued. If he starts to cry or throw a fit about going to sleep we threaten to close the door. This works on occasion. The whole door open thing has now extended not just to his door, but to the gate at the top of the stairs and our bedroom door. This poses a challenge since I normally work at the computer while he naps. He can look right down the hall at me. I have to wait until he is asleep to close the door and work so he won't hear the keyboard clicking away.
Bryce is following after me with his love of cereal. The past couple of weeks he asks for cereal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sometimes I allow it, but I worry that he won't get the fruit and veggies he needs. He used to let me put berries, bannanas or other fruit in his cereal. Now he usually tells me no fruit. Hopefully this is just a phase. He went through the same thing a few months ago when he wanted oatmeal all the time.
He has been doing really well in the pool, however about two weeks ago he stopped wanting to swim without his tubbie. With his tubbie on he will still jump in and swim all around. When his tubbie is off he is very clingy and won't jump in. Perhaps he has finally developed a healthy fear of the water. I just hope he doesn't revert back since the last time he was comfortable not having his tubbie on he swam the width of the pool on his own. With summer coming to a close I want him to be really swimming. I guess I'll have to take him to the YMCA's indoor pool to keep him used to it over the winter.
