Christmas

Bryce had a wonderful Christmas. We did our traditional Christmas Eve at Nathan's Dad's house, had Christmas morning at Nanny and Pawka's house, and Christmas afternoon at the Husen's. Bryce opened his presents on Christmas Eve, but on Christmas morning he only made it through a few gifts before deciding rolling in the paper was more fun. We saved the rest of his gifts from Christmas morning for the next day. He also opened most of his gifts that afternoon from Grammy and Grampa, but wasn't that into it. Some of his favorite new toys are his tricycle, block set, couch, and truck. He was a very spoiled little boy as you can see from the picture of all of his gifts. He got more gifts than he knows what to do with. Our family room is packed with toys.

17 Months

Bryce's vocabulary has really started to expand. He now says Daw for Dog, BaeBae for Baby, Meow for Cat and can sign hurt. He knows how to say Dada, but when Nathan asks Bryce who he is, Bryce will say Mama and laugh. Bryce thinks it is funny to call Nathan Mama.

His lower left eye tooth has finally come through. We're still waiting for the other three. He has been drooling like crazy for several weeks now, so hopefully they'll come through soon and we'll be done with teething for a while.

Bryce is starting to get more and more opinionated about what he does and does not want to do. He's had some pretty good fits. He's even hit me a couple of times when he is really mad. I try to stay calm and tell him it is not nice to hit Mommy and then redirect him. Sometimes when he has a fit it is really hard not to laugh.

Daddy set up Bryce's train that he got for Christmas last year. He loves watching it go around the track.

Bryce found Mommy's scarf and thought it made a great toy.

Thanksgiving

Bryce had a wonderful time on Thanksgiving. We went to the Husen's (a.k.a. Grammy and Gramps). Bryce got to see lots of his family, including Mason. He entertained us all throughout the day.
As you can see, Bryce was also anxious for dinner.

On Friday we had Thanksgiving all over again at the Beaman's (a.k.a. Nanny and Pawka). Bryce had a lot of fun playing with Mandy.

My first tractor ride

Pawka took Bryce on his first tractor ride. Bryce enjoyed it and was so relaxed that he fell asleep. Pawka didn't notice that Bryce fell asleep until Nathan stopped him. I wish we got a picture of him asleep, but we didn't.

Playtime with Amanda and Trey

Here are some pictures from a recent trip down to San Jose. There is a wonderful park just a couple of blocks away from Juli and Clay's house. Pawka and Trey rode their bikes and Nanny and I walked the babies in their strollers to the park. While at their house we were all in the kitchen and the babies were being very quiet. When we went to check on them they were standing on Mandy's rocking chair looking out the window and dumping out the toys.

Family Day at the Beach

It was a beautiful day at the beach - mid 70's and no wind. We stopped at Lucas Wharf for lunch. Bryce was a very good boy and ate almost his entire kids meal (grilled cheese). Bryce had a wonderful time playing in the sand. He also learned about chasing the waves.

16 Months

Bryce has regressed with his napping. Most days he only takes one nap (even when I try and put him down for two naps). Instead of his nap being 1.5 - 2 hours he is napping for only 30 minutes, like he did a few months ago. I'm trying to let him cry himself back to sleep so that he gets a longer nap, but it is not working.

He is into feeding himself these days. He likes using a fork more than a spoon, but not just any fork, he wants my fork. He is actually getting the hang of it quite well. He is still eating most things, however veggies are still an issue sometimes. I try to trick him, by hiding veggies in things, but he is a master at detecting them and spitting them out.

His vocabulary hasn't expanded much this past month. He is still only saying Mama, Dada, and yeah for the most part. He is also still signing food, drink, more, finished, help, please, birdie, nurse, night-night, and thank you.

His favorite things to do over the past month are playing with his shoes, climbing on the couch, playing with this big car shaped fort, listen to and dance to music, reading stories and telling us stories, and of course playing outside.

He is still nursing three times a day. He is sleeping at night for about 12 hours (he only woke up a couple of times in the middle of the night this past month).

We took Baby Kindergym through the Santa Rosa Parks and Recreation Department. He really enjoyed it, but wouldn't sit down for circle time (signing songs, playing with a parachute).

Pumpkin Patch/Halloween

Bryce had so much fun at the Pumpkin Patch (we'll definitely make this an annual family event) and on Halloween. At the pumpkin patch Bryce got to sit on a cow, climb a hay stack, see pigs and goats, dig for potatoes, and pick out a pumpkin. On Halloween night he went from car to car at Trunk and Treat and put candy in his pumpkin basket. I let him have some chocolate covered raisins, which he loved.
