16 Months

Bryce has regressed with his napping. Most days he only takes one nap (even when I try and put him down for two naps). Instead of his nap being 1.5 - 2 hours he is napping for only 30 minutes, like he did a few months ago. I'm trying to let him cry himself back to sleep so that he gets a longer nap, but it is not working.

He is into feeding himself these days. He likes using a fork more than a spoon, but not just any fork, he wants my fork. He is actually getting the hang of it quite well. He is still eating most things, however veggies are still an issue sometimes. I try to trick him, by hiding veggies in things, but he is a master at detecting them and spitting them out.

His vocabulary hasn't expanded much this past month. He is still only saying Mama, Dada, and yeah for the most part. He is also still signing food, drink, more, finished, help, please, birdie, nurse, night-night, and thank you.

His favorite things to do over the past month are playing with his shoes, climbing on the couch, playing with this big car shaped fort, listen to and dance to music, reading stories and telling us stories, and of course playing outside.

He is still nursing three times a day. He is sleeping at night for about 12 hours (he only woke up a couple of times in the middle of the night this past month).

We took Baby Kindergym through the Santa Rosa Parks and Recreation Department. He really enjoyed it, but wouldn't sit down for circle time (signing songs, playing with a parachute).

Pumpkin Patch/Halloween

Bryce had so much fun at the Pumpkin Patch (we'll definitely make this an annual family event) and on Halloween. At the pumpkin patch Bryce got to sit on a cow, climb a hay stack, see pigs and goats, dig for potatoes, and pick out a pumpkin. On Halloween night he went from car to car at Trunk and Treat and put candy in his pumpkin basket. I let him have some chocolate covered raisins, which he loved.

First Haircut

Bryce had his first haircut today. He sat fairly still and didn't cry. By the end he was definitely ready to get down. He thought the tractor chair was pretty fun.

Clown Hat

Bryce is going to be a clown for Halloween. When I tried on his hat he wouldn't let me take it off.

I have a new cousin.

My cousin Mason Michael Garcia was born Sunday morning at 2:42 am. He weighed 7 lbs 3 oz and was 19.5". He is a cutie.

Bryce was a trooper. He stayed awake (and happy) until 11:45 in the waiting room. Nathan and I then took him to the truck for a nap. He slept until about 2:15 when his Grampa came to tell us that Emily was going to start pushing. He was then up until about 4:45 when we left to go home.

He had fun entertaining all of us as we were waiting. He showed off his button, danced, and took us on walks. He also found a new girlfriend, Stacey, his Uncle Justin's sister.

Working with Daddy

We stopped by Nathan's new Santa Rosa office. Bryce wanted to help Daddy work!

15 Months

Bryce turned 15 Months old today. At his 15th month check he was 24 pounds (fully dressed with a wet diaper - so really about 23 pounds) and 32 inches. The doctor said he is doing great.

He has 11 teeth now - 4 front top, 4 front bottom, 2 bottom molars, and the upper left molar is just peaking through.

He says Mama and Dada and yea. He can sign more, food, drink, help, birdie, bye-bye, night-night, potty, finished, and please. He also put two signs together "More Food". He is "talking" more and more. His sounds are started to vary and he is being more vocal. Bryce is signing drink in the picture with his finger pointing to his mouth.

He is still sleeping through the night for the most part. The last few weeks he has been waking up every few nights asking for food or a drink. Maybe he is growing or maybe it is because we've been staying at my parent's house while they are on vacation. Hopefully he stops this when we return home.

He is skipping one of his two naps more and more these days. I think very soon we'll transition to just one nap a day (hopefully a long one).

He is still nursing just 4 times a day; when he wakes up, before naps and before bed. However, he will often skip a feeding or only nurse for a couple of minutes. I think very soon he will give it up completely.

He almost has enough hair in the back to warrant getting it cut. It is still very fine in the back, but getting long. The front is starting to fill in.

He understands most of what you say to him. He'll respond by using his signs or shaking his head yes or no.

As always, I'm enjoying every minute I get to spend with him. What a blessing.
